Aquatic Sciences Adventures Camp: Ages 9-15

Aquatic Sciences Adventures Camp is offered in two formats. Eight, week-long resident camps and two,
2-day non-resident camps are offered. All activities are supervised by faculty and staff members of Texas State University-San Marcos and by certified teachers. Enrollment is limited to 26 students per session,
on a first-come first-served basis.

2012 Autism Summer Camp
The clinic for Autism Research, Evaluation, and Support (CARES) Austism Summer Camp provides children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) access to quality summer camp experiences, ensuring their safety and enjoyment while being sensitive to each child's unique abilities. Trained camp counselors will incorporate therapeutic and educational goals into recreational activities and provide supportive and nurturing interactions and instruction. Each session runs Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with weekly sessions beginning on July 9th and the last weekly session beginning on July 30th. Campus Recreation / Youth Group Swim Lessons
According to the American Red Cross the best thing anyone can do to stay safe in, on and around the water is to learn to swim. This helps emphasize why it is so important that every child learns to swim.  Our classes not only teach youth the appropriate aquatic skills but how to stay safe in and around the water. CAP Camp (College Access Project Summer Leadership Camp)
College Access Project (CAP) Camp is a one or two week boot camp for high school juniors and seniors to help them prepare for college. Topics such as college applications, financial aid, admission essay topics, SAT/ACT preparation, life as a college freshmen, and many more will help high school students be ready for their next major chapter in life. With the help of the G-Force mentors, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence they need to complete all the necessary steps to be accepted into a college or university. Although the camp is held on the Texas State campus, our staff will help each student decide which college or university is right for them. Camps will be held June 11-15, 2012 (ONE week) for incoming High School Juniors (Will be Juniors 2012-2013 school year), and June 18-29, 2012 (TWO weeks) for Incoming High School Seniors (Will be Seniors 2012-2013 school year). CAP camp is NOT an overnight camp. Participants will have to transport themselves or be dropped off at the Texas State University-San Marcos Campus each day, Monday-Friday. There is NO COST to participate in CAP camp; however, space is limited and we ask that those who sign up be committed to attending the length of their specific camp. Creative Dance, Drama, & Singing Performing Arts Camp: Ages 3-9
Camp offers many possibilities to learn and grow in the areas of dance, singing and drama! The dance portion shapes problem solving skills, spatial awareness, self esteem and kinesthetic recognition! While learning drama students will develop emotional intelligence while creating a unique sense of self within a community. The singing portion of the camp teaches vocal warm ups, technique and an understanding of music. This is a great way for students to spend a week learning about their own creative abilities while working with others! Debate: Senior High
The Debate Camp is a two week camp for senior high school students. Students will live on campus at Texas State University-San Marcos. 2012 Play and Inquiry Summer Workshop: Ages 3-10
Registration has begun for the Early Childhood Play and Inquiry Workshop, an annual enrichment camp for children ages 3-10 years. Offered by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas State University and under the direction of Dr. Dianne Pape, Dr. Tim Kinard and Teresa Zapp, the camp will be held at Hernandez Elementary School. As always, this program promises to be a wonderful time for all, as the university's education students guide children's activities in art, music, woodworking, science, language arts, sand and water, and much more!

The children's schedule will be Monday-Thursday mornings, from 8:30-11:30 beginning Monday, June 11th and ending on Thursday, June 28th. The fee for this year's Summer Program is as follows:

  • Tuition for 1 child in the family       $90.00
  • Tuition for 2 children in the family  $165.00
  • Tuition for 3 children in the family  $240.00

Fitness University Summer Camp

Your child will learn how to improve health, fitness, nutrition, and overall wellbeing in our summer wellness program. This program is designed to teach youth how to live a long and healthy life using fun and innovative approaches! Ages 6-12. Kids Kollege of Art: Ages 6-12
Sponsored by the Department of Art and Design, Kids Kollege offers exciting art activities in various media including painting, sculpture, printmaking and photo related projects. Learn to Fence: Ages 8 and up

Fencing is a graceful, fast-moving, and exciting Olympic sport and is a terrific workout for both body and mind. It develops discipline, agility, concentration, speed and timing. Athletic Trainer Student Camps: Junior and Senior High

The Department of Health and Human Performance offers this camp. It consists of 3 1/2 days of intense instruction and practical experience in procedures needed by public school student athletic trainers.

FITT 240 Teen Training

Theatre Camps
Fourth Annual Children's Summer Theatre Camp will take place August 13-24, 2012 this year. Camp is for students ages 6-15. Older students will be in a seperate group. Each group will prepare a full musical that will be performed on the last day of camp. Students spend their days working on singing, dancing and acting as they prepare their hour long production. Camp takes place from 9-3 M-F, students are provided one snack and drink during the day but they need to bring a sack lunch. Early and late care will be made available for a small additional fee. Summer theatre camp is a wonderful experience for all involved and a great way for students to make new friends, improve their self esteem and so so much more, all while learning all the great fun things about theatre. Cost $295 for registrants prior to July 15th, $315 after July 15th. Price includes costume, final day pizza, and DVD copy of the show. Limited scholarships will be available. Camp is directed by Tracy Goodwin, Master's Degree in Child Drama, member of the Theatre Department adjunct teaching staff. flyer



Stop Motion Animation Film Camp
Students ages 7 and up will have an opportunity to learn how to make their own stop motion animation film shorts (think Wallace and Grommit). In one week students will write a story, create characters and setting using a variety of mediums including clay, paper and Lego's. After creating story boards, students will work together as directors to film their shorts using cameras and laptop computers. It's a wonderful blend of education, art, technology and FUN! Camp will be held August 6-10, ages 7-11 meet 9a.m.-12p.m., and ages 12 and up meet 1p.m.- 4p.m. Cost for the camp is $135 (negotiable if necessary), includes supplies. For more information contact Tracy Goodwin at kirbysplace45@gmail.com or 646-350-9148. Young Songwriters' Camp
The camp is a songwriting workshop for students who are interested in composing their own songs (music and lyrics). For students of high school age (middle school age with approval) who are already exploring their abilities as songwriters, and are interested in working on their own original material in a workshop setting with other student songwriters and under the guidance of musicians/songwriters who already established on the Central Texas music scene. Young Writers' Camp
For students ages 6-18, day camps meet in July at Texas State University-San Marcos or at the Round Rock campus. Camps at the San Marcos campus will be held July 2-13, 2012; ages 6-10, elementary, meet in the mornings; while ages 11-13, middle school, and 14-18, high school, meet in the afternoons.
